Spot gold gained 0.4% to $3,348.28 per ounce at 08:40 GMT on Monday, after touching the lowest level since August 1st. US gold futures for December delivery rose 0.3% to $3,393.40.
Independent analyst Ross Norman said that “the firm tone of gold prices is back today, with the market flirting with the $3,350 threshold, as the combination of low returns and a weaker dollar is undeniably creating a tailwind for gold.”
Elsewhere in the market, spot silver grew by 0.2% to $38.08 per ounce, platinum remained stable at $1,335.06 and palladium rose 0.6% to $1,118.92.
