Spot gold was up 0.5% at $1,928.08 per ounce and U.S. gold futures rose 0.5% to $1,932.10. Buoyed by demand for refuge after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), the largest bank failure since the 2008 financial crisis, bullion prices have risen by around 3.2% so far in the week, heading for a third consecutive weekly gain.
Platinum rose 0.8% to $980.33, palladium rose 0.9% to $1,443.80, and cash rose 0.9% to 21.89 per ounce.
