In preparation for the next "General States of the ECO", a meeting of African intellectuals and experts announced by the economist Kako Nubukpo for the end of April, with a view to discussing this single currency of ECOWAS, The Faculty of Economics and Management (FASEG) of the University of Lomé, has just launched a call for papers. Contributors can thus propose a text of up to 20 pages (bibliography and annexes excluded), on issues of political economy, convergence and optimality of the ECO zone, or development prospects related to this currency. Recall that the theme of this symposium will be "Which currency for which development in West Africa: ECO 2020". Moreover, this April meeting aims in particular to come out with a roadmap to be submitted to the Heads of State and Government of the Community area, and this shortly before the ECOWAS Summit, scheduled two months later (July 2020). In addition, to add to the questions surrounding the future of this currency, the English-speaking countries of the community area, led by Nigeria, have recently rejected the direction taken by the WAEMU zone in relation to the ECO.
