According to the rating agency, Moody's, Ghana is now rated Caa1, at the same level as Burkina Faso. Moody's estimates that interest payments will absorb more than half of Ghana's revenue over the medium term.

Ghana falls from B3 to Caa1 with a negative outlook in Moody's scale. The second largest economy in ECOWAS, is now at the same level of risk as Burkina Faso in a context where its debt stood at 80% of GDP at the end of 2021. Moody's estimates that interest payments are exceptionally high compared to its peers at the same rating level.
