A delegation of Chinese businessmen was received in Cotonou by ApiEx Benin on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. It is a opportunity for stakeholders to renew their commitment to give a A new impetus to the business climate between the two countries.

The Sino-Beninese meeting reaffirmed mutual commitment to boost economic exchanges in order to strengthen of the commercial partnership between Benin and China. Franck Adjagba, the Ambassador of Benin to the People's Republic of China qualifies the scope of the visit of “highly significant”. For the latter, the reception of a Chinese delegation of such magnitude goes beyond the scope of a simple mission exploratory. He recalled that this mobilization is an extension of direct from the official visit of the President of the Republic, Patrice Talon, in China in August 2023.

This encounter marked a decisive turning point in the bilateral relationships by opening a new phase of cooperation more strategic, more structured and resolutely focused on the future. The ambition is to change scale and paradigm. We want to fully enter the era of co-industrialization, beyond a traditional relationship import-export.

The diplomat reassured that the investors reunited on this occasion embody economic diplomacy oriented towards projects of creation of local value and sustainable jobs, beneficial to the Beninese economy.

In turn, Martinien Amour-Marie Ako, Secretary Deputy General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the interest of Chinese investors for Benin. For him, this encounter remains the expression of a shared ambition to transform bilateral cooperation in real levers for growth and sustainable development.

The secretary especially reassured the partners Chinese for the full commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the network Beninese diplomacy to support investors, remove obstacles possible and secure exchanges, in close collaboration with national economic promotion structures.
