Libya resumed oil exports last Wednesday, ending a hiatus that had lasted several months.

The new management of the National Oil Company (NOC) has indicated that an oil tanker flying the Maltese flag, Matala, has docked at the al-Sidra terminal to load one million barrels of P& Eacute; Trole Brute and then headed for Italy. Two other tankers, the Nissos Sifnos, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, and the Crudemed, flying the flag of Liberia, were to ship 1.6 million barrels on Wednesday from the Zueitina Ras Lanuf terminals.

The NOC also announced that production resumed Tuesday in several fields, including Sharara, the country's largest, after three months of closure. This resumption of imports came after the country restarted production in the oil fields following the dismissal of the president of the state-owned oil company by one of the country's rival governments.
