Oil on the rise ahead of an OPEC+ meeting. The price of a barrel of Brent from the North Sea for delivery in March gained 1.54% to 78.98 dollars. In New York, a barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for February delivery rose 1.15% to $76.08. A day before that meeting, OPEC cut its estimate of the surplus in world oil markets for the quarter. The operators saw this as a sign that the cartel and their allies should therefore continue their modest increase in production.
