The feasibility study (DFS) published on Monday 1st September 2025 by the Australian mining company indicates that Canyon Resources plans to invest $96 million to start the bauxite production on its Minim Martap project in Cameroon. This study positions Minim Martap as the first bauxite mine to be exploited in country.

Starting next year, Canyon Resources wants to launch bauxite shipments on its Minim Martap project in Cameroon. For respecting this schedule, it has accelerated the procedures in recent months to raise the funds needed to develop the infrastructures of this future mine. To cover this $96 million investment, Canyon is banking on a $140 million facility obtained last May from AFG Bank Cameroon (AFG), as well as equity from a fund raising of 25.4 million Australian dollars (16.5 million USD) made with the support of Eagle Eye Asset Holdings (EEA), its main shareholder. The aim is to produce initially 1.2 million tons of bauxite per year as early as 2026.

with a lifetime Estimated to be 20 years old, Minim Martap should generate new public revenue for Cameroon as soon as it was launched.
