awareness-raising program for people affected by
project concerning the proposed reconstruction and modernization of the line
330 kV Alaoji—Onitsha single-circuit transport system. This program was conducted
under the collaboration of the Transmission Company of Nigeria and the Bank
African Development Agency and the Federal Ministry of Finance from 6 to 8
January 2026.
The awareness exercise covered 12 areas of
local government along the transmission line corridor through
the states of Abia, Imo and Anambra, according to a TCN statement released on Saturday.
According to the project manager, Omobola Sobo, this reconstruction is part of the
as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national electricity grid and
to improve the electricity transmission infrastructure in the region.

explained that the project financed by the ADB consists in modernizing the line of
transmission of existing Alaoji-Onitsha electricity by transforming it into a

He also indicated that this procedure was necessary to guarantee public safety in the right-of-way of the line of transmission of electricity during the work.
