According to Daour Dieng, the contribution of mining companies to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was estimated at 162 billion FCFA in 2020, an increase of more than 30 billion FCFA compared to the year 2019. The mining sector is among “the six priority sectors identified” by the State of Senegal to bring “growth to 7% by 2035".
