The Minister of Tourism and Air Transport, Alioune Sarr announced last Thursday the start in the coming weeks of a vast program of rehabilitation of regional airports for an amount of more than 98 billion FCFA.

"We have a vast program of rehabilitation of regional airports for an amount of more than 98 billion FCFA which will start soon with the airports of Saint-Louis, Matam, Ourossogui, Ziguinchor, Tambacounda", he said.

According to the Aps which gives the information, he spoke after a visit to all the administrations and national companies attached to his department (ANACIM, ASECNA, ADS, HAAS, AIBD).

“We will also start in the coming weeks the rehabilitation of the eight other airports”, also announced Alioune Sarr at the end of his meeting with the authorities of the international airport of Blaise Diagne de Diass (Thiès, west).

The modernization of the AIBD, the rehabilitation of regional airports and the launch of Air Senegal International will enable Senegal to play a leading role on the global air abuse platform, according to Mr. Sarr.

He indicated that on these issues the Head of State has already given his agreement so that we can initiate this program with the AIBD and the Senegal Airports Agency (ADS) so that Senegal's connectivity on the internal level and its international connectivity is ensured.
