The banking group BCP confirms its ambition to consolidate its presence on the African continent, taking total control from Atlantic International. This is part of its expansion strategy regional.

The BCP Group is present in 32 countries across the world, including a historic presence in the UEMOA area via SHELTER. The full integration of ABI aims to accelerate the development of this regional platform, which brings together banking, insurance and asset management in nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

By taking over all the shares of ABI, the Groupe BCP affirms its desire to consolidate its banking activities and financial resources on the continent and to meet the challenges of financing the development in areas with high economic potential. This operation also allows the Moroccan group to gain in agility and consistency in the management of its pan-African strategy, in particular in terms of governance, commercial synergies and operational integration.

The acquisition of ABI comes in a context where The BCP Group intends to play a leading role in the development of inclusion financial and financing of African economies.

It should be noted that as of June 30, 2025, ABI had a outstanding loans of 38.9 billion dirhams and numbered nearly 885,000 customers. The group operates through ten commercial banks, including Bank Atlantique, BIA Niger and the Maroco-Guinean Popular Bank, as well as four insurance companies in Ivory Coast and Togo. ABI is ranked 5th ranking of the banking sector in West Africa.
