The International Conference Centre (CIC), Abdelatif Rahal, in Algiers has been hosting the Digital African Summit since Tuesday. More than 1,200 decision-makers and a hundred exhibiting companies and start-ups, from twenty countries in Africa and the world, take part in the event.

In the space of three days, this summit brings together no less than 100 companies, including 22 domestic and foreign start-ups. The event also includes 60 conferences and workshops on digital development and B2B meetings. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Mohamed Belhocine, African Union (AU) Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, said that this digital summit comes at a critical moment when “the pand& eacute; mie of Covid-19 has revealed an urgent need to adopt technologies that enable innovations and digital solutions for economic recovery and the reconstruction of sustainable and more resilient systems in order to provide better services to our nations.”

It emphasizes that services, such as e-commerce, e-health, e-finance and e-education, or even the agricultural sector, can be provided by public or private services and must Involve small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups in a modern, knowledge-based economy and literate, educated and qualified digital human resources.
