The new findings of the “Startup Friendly Cities Index” 2026” by Multipolitan mention that Accra is winning as one of the most promising cities in West Africa for start-ups, but progress in infrastructure and talent pools and business agility will determine if it can compete with leaders continental countries such as Lagos, Nairobi and Cape Town.

The 2026 Startup Friendly Cities Index evaluates global cities using a two-stage framework that measures maturity of national companies as well as the performance at the city level on key pillars, in particular start-up activity, connectivity digital technology, talent, quality of life and business agility.
