Congo Basin have completed their preparatory work for the round table of
funders. A total of 43 priority projects were selected on 30 October
in Brazzaville.
33 national and 10 regional projects were selected.
These projects will be presented to partners on the sidelines of COP30 in Belém, at
Brazil, then in May 2026 in Brazzaville. The meeting ended at the end of the month
October marked a crucial stage in the mobilization of funding
climate aimed at the preservation of the second largest green lung in the
planet.
Representatives of the 17 member countries of the CCBC
including Congo, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo,
Gabon, the Central African Republic, or even Burundi exchanged for three days with
technical and financial partners such as State Development Bank of
Central Africa (BDEAC) , The French Development Agency (AFD),
the Congo Postal Bank and the Program
United Nations Development Organization (UNDP) .
At the end of the deliberations, the participants
validated a portfolio of 43 priority projects, included in the plan
CCBC regional investment. These initiatives aim to stimulate
green and blue economies that are inclusive and resilient to change
climatic.
Among the flagship projects includes the program to support the sustainable management of peatlands in Congo, a ecosystem covering 165,500 km², capable of sequestering up to 30 billion gigatons of CO ₂
.
