Morocco confirms once again its heavyweight position on the international tomato market. The countryside 2024/2025 ended with a historic record with nearly 745,000 tonnes exported, for an estimated value of 1.2 billion dollars, according to latest data published by EastFruit

According to EastFruit, which cites data from the Exchange Office obtained via the Global Trade Tracker platform, the Kingdom exported 745,000 tons of tomatoes during the 2024/25 campaign (July-June), generating nearly $1.2 billion in revenue.

This represents an increase of 8.3% by compared to the previous season and closely exceeds the record set in 2022/23 by 4%, despite difficulties such as prolonged drought and labour shortage in the sector.

In detail, France is by far the Morocco's first customer absorbing nearly 50% of exports in 2024/2025, followed by the United Kingdom (15%) and the Netherlands. Beyond this trio, others destinations have shown a craze for tomatoes from the country from North Africa showing year-on-year growth in their imports annual. In Europe, these are markets such as Germany, Portugal, Belgium or even Sweden and in West Africa, countries like the Mauritania and Senegal.

While the Moroccan sector remains at grappling with internal challenges such as drought and the shortage of workforce, this new performance reflects the resilience of the actors on the international market.
