A delegation of the African Development Bank , led by its new Country Representative, was in Niamey, Niger, on Wednesday 12th last November. Received by the Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finances, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine at his office, they discussed a vast agro-industrial development project

The meeting held this week consolidates the strategic cooperation between the AfDB and Niger. It illustrates the common desire to strengthen economic cooperation and to accelerate structural development projects at Niger .

At the heart of the discussions, a major project from development agro-industrial in the Maradi region, recently launched with the participation of Vice President of the ADB. In addition, both parties have agreed on a clear road map for preparatory studies, first stage before the presentation of the project to the Board of Directors of the ADB. In this context, the stated objective is the effective start of the program as soon as 2027, in order to boost agricultural transformation, create jobs and strengthen the country's food sovereignty.

At the end of the meeting, the Government of Niger and the ADB reaffirmed their common desire to intensify investments in promising sectors, in particular agriculture, infrastructure and energy.
