On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Land Transport and Opening-up began an awareness caravan aimed at enforcing good transit and transport practices on the Dakar-Bamako corridor.

To raise awareness of the actors on the respect of the transport regulations, in particular on the national texts, on the agreements between Senegal and Mali and on the community texts of the UEMOA and the ECOWAS on transport. This is the purpose of this mission which, according to Cheikh Bâ, is part of the activities of the Support Program for Governance in the Transport Sector (PAGOTRANS). Road expert, Malang Faty also noted that this awareness is part of the activities of the Observatory of Abnormal Practices (OPA). It has three objectives: the reduction of indicators related to the number of checkpoints on this corridor, the determination of the time spent on each checkpoint and that of illegal perceptions. Drivers were urged to respect the directives of the highway code. The said caravan is organized in concert with Malian transport actors, trade unionists and defense and security forces.
