An agreement was reached on 1 April 2025 in Kinshasa between the DRC government and the consortium formed by Jintai Mining PTE Ltd and Tembo Majengo Company SARL. This public-private concession contract covers the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the industrial port of Kalemie

The works to modernise the port of Kalemie will take place in two phases. The first phase is funded to the tune of 70 million US dollars and is expected to be completed by next year.

“This contract concerns the construction of a modern port in Kalemie, in the province of Tanganyika. This port will stimulate the development of the province and promote trade between the DRC and Tanzania. We are going to proceed in stages to build the port, with two phases. The first phase is expected to be completed and operational by the end of next year. This phase represents an investment of approximately 70 million dollars. The concession contract includes several other infrastructure projects planned in the future collaboration agreement to be signed between the dealer or its affiliate and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
