Egypt secured the ninth place in the world among the most attractive destinations for foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2024, with inflows reaching 47 billion dollars, compared to 10 billion dollars in 2023, according to the World Investment Report 2024 of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The UNCTAD report largely attributes the rise in FDI to the Ras El-Hekma development project and to several major agreements signed by the state

The report highlighted the main global trends in foreign direct investment in 2024 and Egypt's position among the most attractive countries for investment, given the economic reforms implemented by the Egyptian government.

He also highlighted a 75% increase in FDI flows to Africa, from $55 billion in 2023 to $97 billion in 2024.

Egypt tops the list of the fastest growing and most attractive African countries for FDI, with a growth rate of 373%, followed by Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique and Uganda.

In his remarks, Al-Mashat pointed out that 2024 has witnessed changes in global investment models, with Egypt maintaining a strong presence in attracting FDI.

She highlighted the government's continued efforts through an ambitious reform program, giving priority to industry, exports, and direct investment to achieve economic development.
