This reference publication is based on a specialized field of trade finance shaped by decades of application in the real world
.The book, launched on 25 June in Abuja, was written by Professor Benedict O. Oramah, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank and a key figure in the development of structured trade finance (STF). ), according to a press release. This book provides a practical step-by-step guide to structuring trade finance transactions. It draws on concrete case studies, explores the risks and theoretical foundations of STF, and extends its scope beyond commodities to address a broad range of business scenarios. This updated edition introduces chapters on reserve-based lending, supply chain finance, and the use of emerging technologies in structured trade finance. These additions make this book particularly relevant in the current global regulatory environment, which is complex and increasingly sensitive to risks.
Also, Professor Oramah referred in this book to the significant advances that have been made in trade finance since the early 1990s.
As a reminder, the first edition of the book highlighted trade finance structures that largely supported North-South trade, an approach that contributed to trade diversion, as businesses often favoured extra-African trade over intra-African trade because of more accessible financing.
