The creation of the second Container Terminal was made possible thanks to investors of the order of 269 billion CFA francs financed upstream by the Autonomous Port of Abidjan for the construction of the infrastructures. Now available, with a draft of 16 meters, the TC2 directly welcomes vessels over 350 meters in length from Asia.

André Kouadio Ndoli, director of engineering and project management at the PAA announced on Friday, November 25, 2022 that “today, ships are leaving Asia directly to come, whereas before, they had to dump their cargoes in Cape Town, South Africa, and small ships are taking them to come to Abidjan because we were limited in terms of depth and the capacities of large vessels.”

According to the testimony of André Kouadio Ndoli, the port could only accommodate 11.5-meter vessels. But today, all the large container ships can enter the Abidjan port platform. This puts the port “in another orbit, because we are no longer a second port, we are the hub”.
