A press release from the Ministry of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Microenterprises informed that Algeria hosted the 1st African Start-Up Congress from 5 to 7 December. The first edition organized by the Ministry at the “Abdellatif Rahal” International Conference Center (CIC) includes the participation of African ministers, representatives of international and continental bodies concerned with the development of start-ups and innovation, and experts and actors in the African ecosystem.

The 1st African Start-Up Congress aims to “unify government efforts aimed at strengthening the role of start-ups in Africa and devoting their contribution to economic development, through the exchange of expertise between countries around general policies developed for this purpose, or by facilitating deployment start-ups to promote access to regional funding sources and invest more in the African space.”

It is punctuated by a meeting of African ministers concerned with Innovation and Start-ups to be sanctioned by a declaration that will serve as a roadmap for the African countries participating in this event. According to the press release, this will make it possible to establish a dynamic of cooperation between innovation ecosystems at the continental level.
