A group of organized criminals and thieves, based in the northern suburbs of the city of Lomé, was unmasked and discouraged by the national police. The members of this group were presented on Friday, December 30, 2022 with a stolen vehicle and several motorcycles to their credit.

The National Gendarmerie opened an investigation that led to the arrest of members of a gang, based in the northern suburbs of the city. This was following the increase in car and motorcycle thefts in the city of Lomé and its surroundings. The officer who presented the group of thugs announces that they are accused of being responsible for the theft of a Toyota Highlander vehicle and cash during the night, from 19 to 20 April 2022, from a home in Togblékopé, and of several motorcycles. They also committed three murders of motorcyclists and wilfully injured several other motorcyclists, one of whom lost an eye.

After questioning, they admitted to being members of the offending group of criminals and thieves and the leader was a certain Anator Komla Martin, a welder and scrap dealer in Togblékopé. These five thieves will be brought before the public prosecutor at the Lomé Court of First Instance to answer for their actions.
