L The General Directorate of Taxation informed in u n press release publié le samedi 7 janvier 2023, que la loi de finances gestion 2023 soulage les Béninois pour la mise à jour de la taxe Real estate unique to the tax authorities. Thus, the payment of the foncière single tax from previous years will not be subject to penalties for taxpayers who will pay their debts in 2023.

The press release mentions that “taxpayers benefit from a penalty waiver when they decide to pay all fees due. They are thus granted the remittance of surcharges, late payment interest, order costs and seizure costs.” According to the DGI, the purpose of this measure is to promote tax compliance. To this end, Nicolas Yénoussi invites the taxpayers concerned to go to the revenue offices of the tax offices in their localities to pay their property taxes (built and/or unbuilt) without any other prior formalities.
