The public securities auction market, organized by UMOA-Titres, experienced a further downturn in 2022. This fall is caused in particular by the intermittent absences of Mali and Burkina Faso, which are prey to political crises. It is thus far from its record of 8,687 billion FCFA ($14.1 billion) in 2020.

The member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) managed to raise 5,254.66 billion FCFA ($8.6 billion) on the regional financial market in 2022. An amount down by 5.35% compared to the previous year. Indeed, this fall is the result of the 14.6% fall in equivalent Treasury bills (BAT), which fell to 1,755.78 billion FCFA. In addition, the issuance of equivalent Treasury bonds (OAT) remained stable at around 3 498.88 billion FCFA.

Furthermore, the number of transactions carried out increased by 19%, despite this general decrease. Mali and Burkina Faso are troubled by political crises. They experienced the largest declines, with a decrease of nearly 40% and 54% respectively. For its part, Togo recorded a fall of 15%. However, it should be noted that Benin and Senegal are showing solid performances, with increases of 77% and 61% in the amounts raised, respectively, compared to 2021.
