California shooting: suspect is dead

A massacre killed 10 people on Saturday night at a California dance hall. The suspect was found dead after committing suicide in a white van after a chase with police, according to information from the local sheriff. Sheriff Robert Luna said that “the suspect was shot and declared dead at the scene,” describing a manhunt that ended with a gunshot fired from inside the man's white van, thus apparently committing suicide. According to Luna, the latter was the only suspect in this shooting. For him, the reason for this attack in Monterey Park, on the day of the Lunar New Year, was not yet known and an investigation is therefore underway.

Heist in Switzerland: the trial begins in Lyon

Six defendants will be tried starting this Monday in Lyon for the 2017 attack on a money transport van in Switzerland, resulting in record loot. Normally scheduled for November 2021, this trial had been postponed, one defendant having contracted Covid and the Rhône Assize Court considering “it necessary to try the six defendants together.” They are originally from the Lyon region. They were arrested in May 2017 near Annecy (Haute-Savoie) a few hours after the night-time attack on a cash transport van, between Geneva and Lausanne.
