The price of gold changed little today. In an effort to assess the Federal Reserve's position on another interest rate hike, traders are waiting for U.S. inflation data, due later today.

U.S. gold futures were down 0.1% at $1,928.30, while spot gold was stable at $1,927.99 per ounce at 0234 GMT. Bullion prices fell 1% on Thursday after data showed that the U.S. economy grew at a faster pace during the December quarter than economists had expected. Platinum lost 0.4% to $1,013.88, and palladium also slipped 0.4% to $1,670.87. Both metals were headed for a third consecutive week of declines. Cash fell 0.2% to $23.86 per ounce.
