La African Development Bank (BAD) has published On 15 February, the conclusions of a new evaluation report were published from Port Louis, the Mauritian capital. According to the bank's study, Mauritius has made considerable progress in its public procurement system, but there is still room for improvement in electronic procurement and in building the capacity of professionals.

The Bank conducted a study of its report in partnership with the Mauritian government. It used the Methodology for the Evaluation of Procurement Systems, known MAPS by English acronym, a universal evaluation standard. The report also made recommendations for the next steps in the government's implementation of reforms. According to Bhagwansingh Dabeesing, a member of the Procurement Policy Office (PPO) and the evaluation team, once the recommendations were approved by the cabinet, the government would develop an action plan to implement them, in the short, medium and long term.

Mauritius has achieved good governance results and has shown strong political commitment to improve its electronic procurement system, which it implemented in 2015 according to the report.
