The UEMOA commission announced in a press release that the economic, social councils and similar institutions of the Union have laid the foundations for the creation of their network.

The objective of this network is to create a “more dynamic” cooperation framework at the UEMOA level capable of responding to the concerns of populations through “relevant” advice and recommendations to the highest authorities of countries and also carrying out actions on the ground. According to the various stakeholders from Burkina Faso, Benin, Mali and Niger, the UEMOA area is subject to multiple and specific challenges that economic and social councils should place at the center of all their concerns.

The participants in the meetings signed an agreement to this effect. The role of the network will be to issue more relevant opinions and recommendations to the highest authorities but also to carry out actions on the ground, at the local level to establish an “inclusive and constructive” dialogue on all “worrying” issues.
