The Mauritanian police announced the arrest of two foreigners of Georgian nationality on Tuesday, February 28. They are accused of defrauding a Mauritanian citizen who owned a currency exchange office and took possession of 106,000 euros.

Following effective coordination between the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) and its Spanish counterpart in Las Palmas, two Gregorian crooks were arrested. The scam took place last Saturday in one of the exchange offices in the capital Nouakchott. The two headed for the economic capital the same day, where they took a flight to Las Palmas the next day (Sunday), where their attempt to escape ended. They will be transferred to Nouakchott with a view to the establishment of legal proceedings on this major larceny.
