The trading session on Thursday, March 9, 2023 reveals strong performances for the Regional Securities Exchange (BRVM). From capitalizations to indices, the increase is general.

The market capitalization of the BRVM bond market stood out at the end of last Thursday's trading session. While it reached 10,009.139 billion FCFA on February 28, 2023, the market capitalization of the bond market boomed, crossing the 10,150 billion FCFA mark for the first time. It stood at 10,151.965 billion FCFA, a strong increase of 181.385 billion.

This performance is justified by the initial listing of 17,300,000 bonds resulting from the TPBF 6% 2023-2028 bond with a reference price set at 10,000 FCFA. And for good reason, the Burkinabe government authorities, through their General Directorate of Treasury and Public Accounting, had issued this bond to cover investments included in the 2022 budget.

However, the stock market capitalization increased by 25.101 billion, from 7675.448 billion FCFA the day before to 7700,549 billion FCFA. The composite index (the general stock market index) rose by 0.32% to 206.99 points compared with 206.32 points the day before. The BRVM 30 index (index of the 30 most traded stocks on the market) rose by 0.49% to 103.45 points compared with 102.95 points the day before. The BRVM Prestige Index (which includes all the stocks listed in the Prestige compartment) also increased by 0.71% to 107.06 points compared with 106.31 points.

The value of transactions did not remain unaffected by this improvement. It amounted to 854.550 million FCFA compared to 1.563 billion FCFA on March 8, 2023.

On the stock side, the Top 5 with the largest price increases were occupied respectively by Compagnie Ivoirienne d'Électricité Côte d'Ivoire, SETAO Côte d'Ivoire, BOA Niger, BOA Burkina Faso and NEI CEDA Côte d'Ivoire. The top 5 largest price declines were occupied by Tractafric Motors Côte d'Ivoire, Coris Bank International Burkina Faso, Oragroup Togo, Sitab Côte d'Ivoire and Air Liquide Côte d'Ivoire.
