According to the IMF, the labor market is struggling to find skills adapted to the needs of the real economy. Benin, a country committed to an all-out digital transformation, has thus embarked on the construction of a Silicon Valley, Sèmè City. It will soon offer a local solution to the exponential demand for technological skills.

Sèmè One and Sèmè Two reflect the technological revolution initiated in recent years by the Beninese authorities, at a forced pace. They are located in the center of Cotonou, close to the very chic Haie Vive district and opposite the Lycée Montaigne. For a long time, the Beninese were considered the “Germanopratins” of Africa, disseminating knowledge in schools throughout the subregion. The State is working to develop a policy to strengthen local technological skills, while technology professions are now at the heart of value and job creation. Sèmè City was precisely designed to prepare Beninese people for the jobs of the future.

Sèmè City met également en œuvre la composante 3 du projet de Formation professionnelle et entrepreneuriat pour l' emploi (FP2E), financé par la World Bank in West Africa to strengthen the support ecosystem for entrepreneurs, improve the entrepreneurial capacities of young people and facilitate access to finance.
