Reuters reported that the Nigerian military was involved in the alleged interruption of 10,000 pregnancies and the massacre of children in the north-east. A fact that she denies.

Major General Victor Ezeugwu appeared before the Independent Special Investigative Group on Human Rights Violations in Counter-Insurgency Operations in the North-East where he denied these facts, reported by Reuters. Indeed, on Saturday, March 25, 2023, General Ezeugwu expressed before the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) his surprise at the allegations made by Reuters about the mass abortion of pregnancies, the massacre of children, and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence.

He vehemently denied the report, declaring that such claims have no place in a professional, modern army. General Ezeugwu dismissed the allegations against the military as unfounded. According to his testimony, “Assuming that such violations had taken place, they would have been taken up by the military hierarchy because, apart from army channels, there are other ways to verify any possible abuse or offence on the part of soldiers.”
