Defending the interests of cotton actors and better organize them is part of this objective that the Regional Organization of inter-branch cotton associations of the member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (ORIC- UEMOA ) in Abidjan.

An information note announced that oric- UEMOA a summer created following a constitutive general meeting held on Tuesday in the Ivorian economic capital. Indeed, it is based in Abidjan and brings together professionals in the cotton sector from Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin and Ivory Coast.

In reality, the UEMOA area produces an average of two million cotton seeds and 900 tons of cotton fibers every year after processing at the factory and impacts nearly 15 million people. For this reason, it is ranked 5th in the world in cotton exports, and concentrates 76% of cotton production in sub-Saharan Africa.
