Value chain actors in the aquaculture sector set up an interprofessional body for their sector on Wednesday, May 17, at a hotel complex in the commune of Cocody.

At the constitutive General Assembly of the Aquaculture Interprofession, the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources, Sidi Touré, welcomed the completion of the project, which is a primary objective for his ministerial department. According to the president of the Organizing Committee, Sékou Daifo, of the 600,000 tons of fish consumed by Côte d'Ivoire, each year, the country produces only 100,000 tons, “Hence an annual deficit of 500,000 tons of fish. So to fill this deficit, we need to organize ourselves to produce locally in order to reduce fish imports into the country.”
