The Court for the Suppression of Economic Offences and Terrorism (CRIET) has examined the case of a defendant prosecuted for “cyber fraud”. He is an appointed representative of the Liyeplimal company

in Benin.

Liyeplimal is a company based in Cameroon. The representative in Benin is accused by a woman and her children and the woman's younger brother. He is accused of having taken a total of 36.2 million FCFA (33 million CFA francs for the wife and his children and 3.2 million CFA francs for the brother) to convert to Limo to buy parks that will generate earnings per week. A year after the placement, victims should start by taking their earnings. To their surprise, they learned that the platform has problems and that they cannot recover funds from their accounts.

The woman said she made a deposit of 2,500,000 FCFA, after 3,200,000 FCFA and then 12,800,000 FCFA. Amounts that are normally placed in an account created in his name by the representative of the Liyeplimal company in Benin. The defendant admitted to taking $19,200 Limo from the woman and investing it into her account. He claimed that at the time of his arrest, the woman had 60,000 Limo dollars in her account. So he didn't swindle the victims. The Special Court remits the case to July 10, 2023 for continuation.
