In operations to curb the rise in cybercrime among young people, a Nigerian economic crime agency said it had recently arrested at least 33 fraud suspects on the Internet.

Wilson Uwujaren, Spokesperson for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said that the 33 individuals arrested during their operations were arrested by security agents in Kwara and Borno states. 2 of them were arrested in Ilorin, the state capital of Kwara, and others in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, following credible information about their alleged criminal activities. Following the operation, several devices including phones, laptops and exotic cars of various brands were recovered from the suspects.
