From 2016 to 2022, agents of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and SME Promotion seized illicit goods with an estimated value of 15 billion FCFA. It was in the context of the fight against counterfeiting.

More than 97,866 counterfeit items worth more than 500 million CFA francs were intercepted by the services of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and SME Promotion in 2022. To this are added the seizures made by the other administrations. In reality, the illicit practice has disastrous consequences for the Ivorian economy and jeopardizes the development of society. It damages the image and competitiveness of the company and causes losses in turnover and falls in productivity that can lead to layoffs
