$2 million.Le Mécanisme africain de financement du développement des engrais (MAFDE), géré par la BAD intends to provide to the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) in Tanzania. This represents a partial credit guarantee of $2 million to assist suppliers or importers in providing fertilizers to Tanzanian agricultural input distributors and a grant of $528,600 to cover part (94%) of the current project expenses. The objective of this project is to increase productivity by facilitating timely access to fertilizers and their appropriate use by smallholder farmers. It will also serve to facilitate access to finance for quality inputs through a functional, efficient and sustainable fertilizer supply chain in Tanzania, and then improve access to finance for major fertilizer distributors
.The project targets 5 suppliers and 35 major agricultural input distributors as direct beneficiaries, 1,000 agricultural input retailers as indirect beneficiaries, and 550,000 smallholder farmers as final beneficiaries.
