It was last Tuesday, July 18, that an employee of a microfinance structure was sentenced by the Cotonou court to 5 years in prison, including 4 years in prison for a case of theft.

The alleged thief was convicted of breaching trust against a cooperative for which he works. He is accused of manipulating the bank account of several customers of the structure and allegedly created his own account into which he transfers money from customers. A total of 41 million FCFA would be stolen. He admitted the facts but not the amount. For him, it is more like 36 million FCFA

In his deliberation, the judge sentenced the defendant to 5 years in prison, including 4 years in prison, and 45 million FCFA.
