The launch of a $1 billion “Youth Adaptar” climate adaptation initiative for young Africans was announced in Nairobi, Kenya by the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Akinwumi Adesina.

“Youth Adaptar” will be launched in partnership with the Global Adaptation Center, covering several African countries. This initiative envisaged providing initial funding to youth-led ideas and businesses. According to the President of the ADB, the program has, in the past, financed more than 33 African start-ups in 19 countries, some of which have grown further and registered more than 200% profits.
