A press release published on Wednesday, November 29, mentions that the FirstBank Group appointed Olukorede Adenewo as CEO/CEO of its British subsidiary, FirstBank UK.

The appointment of Olukorede Adenewo took effect on November 16, 2023, subject to regulatory approvals. Prior to his appointment, Adenewo was the managing director of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria. He joined the Bank's Corporate Banking sector in 1999 and has held key positions, including managing director/ CEO of SCB Gambia, deputy managing director of SCB Cameroon, and managing director of commercial and institutional banking services for SCB Nigeria and West Africa

According to the lender, Adenewo “who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the global financial landscape, brings a wealth of experience, built on a proven track record of success in the banking sector in multiple countries.” The CEO of the FirstBank Group, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan expresses his confidence in Adenewo. He said, “On behalf of the FirstBank Group's board of directors, management, and staff, we are thrilled to welcome Olukorede Adenewo to the FirstBank family. With his wealth of experience, we are confident that he is the ideal person to lead FirstBank UK into its next phase of growth and development.”
