The production branch of British Octopus Energy has been selected for a project that will see the construction of the first wind farm in Sierra Leone. It is thus preparing to take its first steps in the field of renewable energies in Africa

The project to build the first wind farm in Sierra Leone will be carried out under a partnership agreement with Sherbro Alliance Partners (SAP), a company led by the actor Idris Elba and the grandson of the former President of Sierra Leone, Siaka Stevens. It is indicated in a press release from Octopus that the overall project involves the installation of five wind turbines, solar panels and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in order to produce clean electricity for local communities. Construction is expected to begin in 2024.
