In a press release, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) announced that it intends to organize in the Senegalese capital, through its office for North Africa, a workshop on the contribution of migration to development in Africa on 17 and 18 January.

The workshop, which will open on 17 next year, is organized as part of ECA's support for the implementation of the “Global Compact for Migration in Africa”. It will allow “to examine the experience of the countries that participated in the project, to promote better use of the diaspora's contribution to the development of countries of origin”. This meeting will also provide a framework for “sharing African experiences and best practices in order to optimize the contribution of migrants to sustainable development”. According to the press release, the workshop comes “at the end of a series of workshops and research conducted in South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Zimbabwe, between 2021 and 2023”.
