In an effort to revolutionize African agriculture and strengthen food security on the continent, the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the centers of the Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers (CGIAR) are considering reaching an agreement.

La collaboration stratégique entre la BAD et les centres du CGIAR aims to exploit the considerable potential of Africa, which holds 65% of the world's uncultivated arable land. To this end, President Akinwumi Adesina and the managing directors of CGIAR style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif"> explored ways to increase food and agricultural productivity in Africa. The UCGIAR style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif"> centers, spread across Africa, focus their activities on initiatives aimed at strengthening food and nutrition security, r& reduce poverty and improve the management of natural resources. The AfDB plans to include the CGIAR style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif"> in its program of long-term loans to African countries, thus recognizing the role crucial research centers in the fight against climate change and the promotion of food security.
