Last Tuesday, Amadou Ba, Prime Minister of Senegal invited the financial sector of UEMOA to contribute to the financing of policies to adapt to climate change. It focuses on supporting projects that respect the environment.

opening ceremony of the BCEAO international conference, Amadou Ba said that he expected “concrete actions” from the UEMOA financial institutions that could “encourage investments in projects that respect the environment such as renewable energies and energy efficiency, which contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.” According to him, the latter must mobilize because the commitments made by most external partners have not been implemented.

Likewise, he called for “sustained international cooperation between all central banks, other stakeholders [...] in the banking and financial sector, and development partners.”
