2030.The World Bank wants to connect 250 million people to electricity through decentralized renewable energy systems or distribution networks. And the ADB plans to support it with an additional 50 million people. The partnership between the two institutions testifies to the determination of the World Bank Group style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif"> and the Group of the African Development Bank to be bolder to better address one of Africa's most pressing challenges. World Bank Group President style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif">, Ajay Banga said that “access to electricity is the foundation of any development. It is an essential ingredient for economic growth and the creation of jobs on a large scale. Our aspiration will only be fulfilled with partnership and ambition. We will need political action from governments, funding from multilateral development banks and private sector investments.”
