The American Public Bank for Import-Export Finance (US EXIM), through its president Reta Jo Lewis, announced, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, the signing of three agreements with various Angolan authorities. This partnership involves the financing of infrastructure projects, representing a total value of 1.3 billion dollars.

The most significant deal announced concerns the financing of 900 million dollars for a solar power plant project with a capacity of 500 megawatts. A second agreement, worth 363 million dollars, does not represent direct financing, but rather a guarantee of 350 million dollars on a loan granted by Standard Chartered Bank and Africa Finance Corporation to the American company Accrop Bridges. This loan is intended for the construction and installation of metal bridges on several roads in Angola.

The third agreement, worth 43 million dollars, aims to finance the installation of radiocommunication equipment. This transaction is part of an approach aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of American companies compared to their Chinese counterparts, especially in Africa.
