Infrastructure experts from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have been meeting since May 14 to discuss the development of the Abidjan-Lagos corridor.

The meeting, which ends on Thursday, brought together various regional and international actors. It aims to establish a comprehensive roadmap for the Abidjan-Lagos corridor development project. The main objective of this meeting is to discuss the results of the IDS study. It provides a road map for corridor development, taking into account economic, social, environmental, and logistical aspects. The study also aims to obtain the necessary funding and support from international organizations, governments and private investors.

The Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Project, a 1028 km highway, is part of the trans-African road network. It will connect key ports and urban areas in West Africa, including Lagos, Abidjan, Accra, Cotonou, and Lomé, and provide essential maritime access for landlocked countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Chad. This corridor is crucial for stimulating trade and regional integration.
